As part of our (Gtechniq) ultimate new car detail we offer an annual Gtechniq maintenance detail.
This detail is recommended every 12 months to keep the coatings in good condition. While ceramic coatings are amazing at resisting, dirt, tar, tree sap, road grime they can only do so much and over time air bourn contaminates can ‘smother’ these coatings reducing the hydrophobic effect which makes washing more difficult. That’s why it’s important to carry out this maintenance detail at least every 12 months. The process starts with removing, washing de-tarring and claybarring the number plates, front and back.
Next the exterior is soaked in Gtechniq W4. This loosens dirt making it easier to rinse off the paint reducing the chance of inflicting swirl marks in the hand washing stage.
The exterior is hand washed using the two bucket wash mothod with Gtechniq G wash and a soft lambs wool wash mitt.
Wheels and tyres are deep cleaned, the front face, inside the barrel and behind the spokes.
Any intricate areas are cleaned using an all purspose cleaner and soft bristle detailing brush.
Part one of the three part decontamination process starts with removing any tar from the bodywork and wheels (faces)

With the exterior thoroughly clean we dry using a soft microfibre towels
If this was the standard maintenance package we would now apply Gtechniq C2 crystal lacquer but this customer opted for the optional application of Gtechniq EXO V3. To prepare the paint we used isopropyl alcohol (70%), this removes any residues that might have been left behind, reducing the lifespan of EXO V3.
With the paint surgicly clean we apply the ceramic coating, EXO V3 offers up to 2 years protection on daily driven cars with a very rich deep shine.
